Compass Consulting Surveyors is a complete service development consultancy, created from the partnership of Doherty Smith & Associates consulting surveyors and Clarkstone Surveyors in 2021.
Backed by a long history and extensive experience, Compass Consulting Surveyors aims to provide the highest quality services for all your development requirements. With our focus firmly on the future, we choose to source all our surveying equipment and software from world leaders in the industry such as Leica Geosystems, Civilcad and AutoCAD. We strive to attain and maintain a high standard of skill and knowledge by continued professional development and training. All our processes are subjected to rigorous quality control checks to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
With staff located in both Orange and Dubbo, we deliver high-quality service with a focus on the Central West. We offer surveying, town planning and civil engineering services in-house, allowing us to complete your development proposal from one contact point.

ERIC SMITH
Director/Registered Land Surveyor
Eric grew up on a farm at Yeoval, south of Dubbo. Eric has had a passion for surveying since 1989, when he completed work experience with local surveyor, Neil.
PAT CLARKSTONE
Director/Registered Land Surveyor
Pat Clarkstone is a Registered Land Surveyor with over 14 years of professional experience in cadastral, engineering and mining projects.
KATE SMITH
Business Manager/Planner
Kate is Business Manager at Compass Consulting Surveyors. She is responsible for strategic planning, financial direction and HR matters.
PAULA HILDEBRANDT
Client Liaison/Administration Coordinator
Paula’s key role is to liaise with Compass Consulting Surveyors clients and ensure they have the most up to date information regarding their projects.

Draftsperson/Administration
Riley is a valued and deft member of the drafting team. Their creative flair and attention to detail ensures your survey plans are as attractive as they are accurate.
NATHAN “TEX” EXELBY
Survey Technician
Nathan is new to the surveying industry, and provides assistance to the team both in the field and drafting in the office.
WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY & PROCEDURES
We aim to achieve a level beyond our duty of care obligations by implementing and following strict Workplace Health and Safety policy. All employees of Compass Consulting Surveyors undergo the necessary induction training and risk assessments when working on sites under our control.
All members of the team have completed the National WHS General Construction Induction Training and hold nationally recognised White Cards.
