The $540 million solar farm project will generate 425MW of renewable energy. The site is situated 7km north of Wellington on the Goolma Road and is approximately 950Ha (2350 acres).
Compass Consulting Surveyors were appointed as the Lead Surveying Consultants and provided the following:
- Detail and Contour Survey over the entire site and surroundings roads. This involved over 90,000 RTK GPS observations to capture the site’s topography and existing features.
- Cadastral Boundary definition of the site and Land Tilting advice.
- UAV (Drone) Survey to provide a geo-referenced high resolution orthomosaic.
- Control Surveys.
- Surveying and marking 26km of ‘No-Go Zones’ on the site prior to construction beginning.
- POSI Survey for the construction of the new intersection on Goolma Road.
- Easement Survey for over 5km of 11kv overhead and underground powerlines within the site.
- Construction setout of Substation located within the Solar Farm and the 23 tower structures for the 330kv overhead transmission line.
- QA and Conformance Surveys
- Final Identification Survey
